Who's That ?
Martin and his wife Leonie were delighted to be guests of Pete Townshend at the Liverpool Summer pops "Who" gig on 6th July 2006. Martin's former boss is of course the Who's songwriter and chief guitar wielding global megastar.
"We got there early to watch the crew setting up. I was made up to meet
Pete's guitar tech Alan Rogan who had sent me acoustic guitars in the early nineties.
I had a good mooch around the guitar end ( six Eric Clapton strats with Fishman
acoustic pick ups and four Gibson J200 "Pete Townshend" signature acoustics
) and a close look at "John "Rabbit" Bundrick's" Hammond C3.
Basically, what you get at a Who gig is the very, very best of
everything....custom built by the manufacturers to the highest spec. And flightcases. Big ones for everything.... a wonderful "formula1"
spectacle of rock glory at its height. "The Who" isn't in the Guinness
book of world records for the loudest gig ever for nothing !
Martin had a brief chat with THE MAN , (the busiest man on the planet ) after Pete did his live webcast, details about Pete on :
After the fantastic gig Martin and Leonie met everyone (Leonie being a Who fan for years) and after prising his wife off Roger Daltrey's face, said their goodbye's to the old boss and supreme statesman of rock guitar. Long may they reign.
